By 2030, India might be a global drone hub, according to Jyotiraditya Scindia, who spoke at the launch of the NITI Aayog’s Experience Studio.
India will require over 1,00,000 drone pilots in the next years, according to Union Minister Scindia, as the sector continues to grow exponentially.
Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia unveiled a drone experience studio at NITI Aayog on Tuesday, with the goal of fostering innovation and the usage of drones for public services.
NITI Aayog Vice-Chairperson Suman Bery and CEO Amitabh Kant attended the inaugural event.
Scindia stated during the event that India will require approximately 1,00,000 drone pilots in the future years due to the sector’s “exponential expansion.”
“By 2030, we have the ability to turn India into a worldwide drone powerhouse,” he remarked.
As Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated, “it is critical to increase the use of drones in many industrial and defense-related areas to maximise the benefits of this technology.”
“We’re working hard to make drone services more widely available. India will soon see an increase in the number of sectors using drone technology. This will eventually lead to a revolution that will affect every citizen’s life, achieving the Prime Minister’s aim of an Aatmabirhar Bharat,” he stated.
According to Scindia, the drone sector is on a path of exponential expansion thanks to the active participation of drone industry players and the Center. He claimed that the government will enable the quick adoption of drones by lowering drone regulations and improving drone literacy through programmes such as Drone Shakti and Kisan Drones.
“NITI Aayog’s cutting-edge experiential studio is a beacon of technical excellence, inspiring curious minds to address real-world challenges,” he added.
Because of their reach, variety, and ease of use, drones are likely to be big job creators and economic growth drivers, according to Bery, particularly in India’s remote and inaccessible areas.
“The NITI experience studio will help market diverse drone technology applications to public and private stakeholders, as well as help them fast-track drone technology adoption inside their organisations and contribute in the development of a viable drone sector in India,” he said.
During the ceremony, Kant stated that the experience studio will allow start-ups and companies to display their innovations and next-generation technology-enabled solutions.
The experience studio, according to Kant, will allow various government agencies to get hands-on experience with these technologies and examine how they may be employed in the context of public services.
It will also act as a launching pad for proofs-of-concept and pilots targeted at resolving challenges with service delivery, according to Kant.
He also mentioned that the experience studio will build smaller, more targeted cohorts, which will help with the mainstreaming of these solutions once they’re ready for usage.
The Union Minister also announced that NITI Aayog, in partnership with the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), will launch the following challenges:
Drones for Social Impact Competition: For start-ups to demonstrate their ability to tackle significant issue statements in a variety of application scenarios.
• Robotics Workshop and Competition: For Atal Tinkering Labs students to encourage creativity and problem-solving.
He promised that MoCA would provide all necessary support for these competitions, as well as other events scheduled for the month, in order to aid the ecosystem’s development.
